Choosing tournament software for combat sports: a checklist

Data Plus MMC · Published 27.10.2026

Federations often start with Excel and paper, then try a general event tool, and find that combat sports need much more. Use this checklist when you compare options — including Data+ Events.

Rules of your sport

  • Does it know your age groups, weight categories and timing?
  • Does it handle medical suspensions, walkovers and disqualifications?
  • Are the rules configurable per event when the federation changes them?

Registration and money

  • Can clubs register their own athletes, with checks for age and weight?
  • Can you set fees per category and track who has paid?
  • Is there a waiting list and duplicate detection?

Draws and schedule

  • Which bracket formats are available, and does it separate clubs and countries?
  • Can you prove a printed draw was not changed?
  • Does the schedule recalculate itself when rings run late?

The venue

  • Does it work without internet in the hall?
  • Does it include scoreboards, judge input and hall screens, or do you need other systems?

People and languages

  • Is the interface in the languages of your officials and clubs?
  • Do coaches get notified before their athlete's bout?

Documents and data

  • Badges, certificates, protocols, invoices: can you print them from the same data?
  • Is every change logged, and can you export your data?
  • Can the system talk to your federation website through an API?

Data+ Events answers "yes" to these questions for kickboxing today. Contact us to see it on an event like yours.
