How to run a kickboxing tournament: from registration to the podium
Data Plus MMC · Published 27.10.2026
A kickboxing tournament is a chain of steps where every mistake travels down the line: a wrong age group breaks the draw, a late weigh-in breaks the schedule, a lost score sheet breaks the results. Data+ Events keeps the whole chain in one system.
1. Event and categories
Create the event, choose the disciplines and generate categories by age, weight and gender in bulk. Ring and tatami disciplines use their own WAKO age groups. Timing (rounds, breaks, finals) comes from a profile and can be changed per group or category.
2. Registration
Clubs open their own accounts, add their athletes, coaches and officials and register them into categories. Registrations that do not fit the age or weight are refused with a reason. A waiting list fills free places automatically, and a duplicate check catches the same athlete entered twice.
3. Fees and invoices
Every category can have its own fee. Clubs see what they owe, upload a receipt, and the organiser confirms it. Invoices are generated as PDF.
4. Accreditation and weigh-in
Clubs book an arrival slot online. At the official weigh-in the system checks the limit and tolerance, records attempts and lets an athlete move to another category or withdraw; the place goes to the waiting list. The protocol is signed and printed.
5. Draws
Draws follow the chosen format — for example WAKO single elimination with two bronze medals — and separate athletes from the same club and country. The federation approves a draw version; a QR code on the printed sheet shows whether it is still current.
6. Schedule
Categories are dragged onto rings and days. The schedule calculates the time of every bout, includes opening, lunch and award blocks, and shifts itself when a ring runs late. Forecasts use the real length of fights from the day.
7. Competition day
Scores come from Data+ Score at the ring, coaches get a message before their athlete's bout, screens in the hall show the current and next fights, and the public pages update live.
8. Results and documents
Medal tables by club and country, category and bout protocols, certificates and the best athlete of the event are ready when the last final ends. Ranking points are calculated from the results.
