Running a tournament in a hall without internet
Data Plus MMC · Published 27.10.2026
Many sports halls have no reliable internet. Mobile data drops when hundreds of spectators arrive, and a cloud-only system stops exactly when it is needed most. Data+ Events was designed for this.
A local server at the venue
A small computer (mini-PC) in the hall runs the same Data+ Events as the cloud. It is set up with one command. The registration desk, weigh-in, draws, ring scoreboards, judge consoles and hall screens connect to it over the local network.
Nothing is lost
Every change made at the venue is written to a queue. When the internet returns, the queue is sent to the cloud, and the public pages, rankings and the federation website are updated. Re-sent batches are recognised, so nothing is counted twice.
Scoreboards and judges
Data+ Score runs at each ring without internet: wired judge consoles or judges' phones over the local network, an operator panel and a spectator screen. Results go to the local server and from there to the cloud.
Backups
The venue server makes a backup every night and watches its disk space, so a long championship does not depend on one machine.
What spectators see
When the hall has internet, the public schedule and results update live. Data+ Live streams can be watched for free.
If your events take place in halls with poor connection, talk to us about a venue kit.
